The Dental Directory has bolstered its purchasing and business development team with the appointment of Mimi Lau into the role of director of procurement and business development.
Lau has previously held positions with Numark Pharmacy and Lloyds Pharmacy. As part of her new role, Lau will be responsible for ensuring The Dental Directory’s product ranges are competitively priced through leveraging strategic procurement and supplier partnerships, in addition to offering dental practices business solutions and support.
Lau comments: “I have joined The Dental Directory at a very exciting time; it is a dynamic and inquisitive company with lots of ambition. It is totally committed in providing the best one stop solution to its customers and will do this, by offering a comprehensive range of products at the most competitive prices, whilst adding further value through additional service offerings such as training and compliance.
“Dentistry is undergoing huge change. It’s important that we understand and maximise the opportunities that the changes will bring and pass these on to our customers to enable them to enhance their clinical role, grow their patient base and increase business profitability.”
Lau holds a pharmacy degree and a graduate diploma in law. She started her career as a pharmacist, before moving into roles within operations and procurement. Her last position was director of pharmacy at Numark, supporting independent pharmacies commercially and professionally.
Chief Operating Officer Mark Stephenson says: “Mimi joins us at a very exciting time and we are delighted to welcome her to The Dental Directory.
“Mimi brings with her an impressive track record within pharmaceutical procurement and clinical insight which I have no doubt will be invaluable to our customers.”
The Dental Directory was founded more than 35 years ago and employs more than 250 people across four UK sites, including a state-of-the-art automated warehouse which houses more than 27,000 product lines that can be delivered across the country the next day.
